The written word is one of my greatest joys in life. While a book can teach you something new, and show you how someone else thinks and feels about the world; a quote can give you a concise window into someone else’s view on a certain subject with very little investment on your part.
It’s hard for me to pick one quote as my favorite, though…One of my ambitions with this blog is to post a new quote each week, and one of the advantages of my kindle is that I can highlight text and have it transferred over to their site…basically, I can take notes in any book and collect phrases I like without having to interrupt the reading process too much – no notebook and pen to search for!
A quote that I ran across recently really resonated with me. It’s by Carl Jung, the famous psychoanalyst.
“I am not what happened to me. I am what I choose to become.”
What stands out to me about it is that it means we can and do constantly reinvent ourselves, and we always have a chance to do better in life. No matter what tragedies befall you, and what you’ve done in the past – you can improve yourself and your place in life.
