Ode to a Playground

Dear Park,

Perhaps you weren’t part of my childhood, but you were a sweet part of my adult life. Maybe this isn’t something to talk about in mixed company, but a group of friends and I used to get baked here at night.

We were quiet, didn’t make a mess, and didn’t interfere with anyone. Maybe this seems a little cringe-worthy now, but the idea of this place being destroyed hurts me. I remember watching teenagers play basketball after dark, and some of the most emotionally honest conversations I’ve had took place here.

Goodbye, sweet park. Yet another victim to budget cuts and change…
