Don’t Fall in Love (Ghazal)

Comments 8 Standard

When flowers blossom in your heart

Stomp them out and salt your heart

Entwined souls will only stymy freedom

Love will a make hostage of your heart

Desire can and will make a fool of you

Safer to sell the offal that is your heart

Make yourself a soup of that traitorious flesh

Fatten yourself on the offal of your heart

Clip the wings of this exotic bird

Before it flees the gilded cage of your heart

  1. Yes, the double-edged sword of love. Although this reminds me of Shakespeare: ’tis better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all. <–Sigh…it can be so intoxicating. 😛
