Inside, a flickering candle shielded by waxy myelin,

An encoded insight hiding a lasting core.

 

Tonight, a pulpy armada comes riding in.

 

Let us study a single ship received this eve.

 

A lazy miasmic haze of a night interrupted

By the emergence of another’s need

 

A promise was given to repay for being disrupted

 

I selected my nurse’s mask selected from the roster

Chain-smoking and guarding you until you adjusted
to the aching emptiness at your altar

A remembrance of devoted discussion and confidences entrusted
